Configure Chrome for Testing for Test Studio Automation
The document describes the steps to enable Test Studio to use Chrome for Testing browser for test recording and execution.
Chrome is one of the supported from Test Studio browsers for automation of web applications. Since Chrome officially announced their Chrome for Testing flavor channel, Test Studio included support also for it.
Use the below steps to switch using the Chrome for Testing browser for test recording and execution in Test Studio.
Install Chrome for Testing
- Go to the official Chrome channel to download Chrome for Testing setup - https://googlechromelabs.github.io/chrome-for-testing/#stable

Look for the URL of the current
win64
orwin32
stable version and select the one which corresponds to the OS in use.Tip!
You can use the following direct download link for Chrome v.138 for Windows 64-bit: https://storage.googleapis.com/chrome-for-testing-public/138.0.7153.0/win64/chrome-win64.zip Download the zip file by pasting the URL in the browser and note the download folder.
- Open a File Explorer and browse to
Program Files
orProgram Files x86
depending on the OS in use. - Create the following folder under the selected
Program Files
one:\Google\Chrome for Testing\Application
. - Copy the downloaded zip file with the installation and extract it in the newly created folder.
- Run the
setup.exe
in that same folder\Google\Chrome for Testing\Application
.
Note
Chrome for Testing doesn't update automatically. When you need a new version of the browser, use the same procedure to upgrade the Chrome for Testing.
Setup Test Studio to Use Chrome for Testing
Once the Chrome for Testing setup is complete Test Studio starts using it automatically and no further adjustment is needed.
Switch Back to Using Standard Chrome Installation
You can switch back to using Test Studio with the standard Chrome installation at any time by deleting the folder \Google\Chrome for Testing\Application
from the respective Program Files
one selected for the setup.
