Description
How can I use an icon library or toolkit with the Telerik and Kendo UI components in Unite UX, for example, Font Awesome? I want to use icon fonts to add icons to my design.
Solution
When you use the Telerik and Kendo UI Kits for Figma as a starting point for your design, you can change the built-in icons with icons from any third party icon library. For example, if you want to use Font Awesome:
- Make sure that Font Awesome is installed on your machine.
- Copy the glyph, name, or unicode value of the desired icon from the Font Awesome Cheatsheet. For detailed instructions, check the article on Adding icons through icon fonts in Figma.
- In Figma, open the Telerik and Kendo UI Kit where you want to use Font Awesome icon fonts.
- Paste the copied icon font and use it to modify the UI kit.
After modifying the UI kit and customizing the icons in your design, you can export the design to Unite UX by using the Export and handoff option in the Unite UX Plugin for Figma. The exported design assets contain all required data so that the developer can use the fonts from your design and to customize the Telerik and Kendo UI components.
To customize the Telerik and Kendo UI components by using the exported Font Awesome icon fonts in Unite UX, follow the steps in the Using Font Icons in Unite UX article
