Progress® Telerik® Reporting R1 2019

Installing Telerik Reporting

Telerik Reporting can be installed via:

  • Telerik Control Panel: Telerik Reporting can be downloaded via Telerik Control Panel. The option to download and install the Control Panel is front and center on the page, after logging into your Telerik account. The Panel uses the product MSI file.

  • Telerik Reporting NuGet packages: Telerik Reporting libraries for .NET Core projects are available through Telerik NuGet private feed - How to add a NuGet feed is explained in You will need to enter your Telerik account credentials for this operation. Telerik NuGet Packages include the Reporting Engine and implementation of the Reporting REST WebAPI based service, where the packages can be used with standard .NET 4.6.1 framework. The packages do not include design-time support.

  • MSI file: The MSI files are intended for easy and automatic installation of the product on your computer to a folder named Progress in your Program Files, automatically creating the necessary virtual folders and projects. The MSI file provides all files required for developing solutions with Telerik Reporting.

To install Telerik Reporting on your machine using the msi installer follow the instructions below:

How to download Telerik Reporting installer

  1. Log into your Telerik account.

  2. Click on the Downloads tab to view all the purchased and trial products available for download.

  3. Select Telerik Reporting product title. The next page allows you to download the installation file, documentation file, and Source code (only with purchased license).

  4. Download the Automatic installation (MSI) file.

  5. Once the download completes, run the Telerik_Reporting_R1 2019.msi and follow the instructions.

Internal builds can be found also in your Telerik account, under "Downloads", then "Latest Internal Build". If you need an older internal build, the loaded page will let you select Telerik Reporting and a major version of the product to which internal builds belong.

The 'Downloads' page lists previously downloaded products. If you are missing a product or its version, please contact our Sales team through the support ticketing system by submitting a 'General feedback' thread.

How to install Telerik Reporting

  1. After executing the msi file you should see the following window prompting the user to read and accept the License Agreement:

  2. Next you are provided with a customization window giving you ability to choose among several features, which are self explanatory. What you should note here is the Examples feature. If we do not find a local SQL Server instance on your machine or if your SQL Browser service is stopped the examples will be installed but the application configuration files will not have a valid connection strings. Still you can find working demos on our demos page.

If you want to setup the examples and the used connection string click Examples Setup. Supported are any local SQL Server 2005+ instances.

The Examples use the MS SQL Server AdventureWorks database which gets deployed on your machine unless it already exists. Should you need to recover it, you can download it from codeplex.

Alternatively, AdventureWorks can be installed by manually executing the SQL script deployed from the installer under [InstallDir]/Examples/Data/AdventureWorks OLTP. For the script to execute correctly, the following SET @data_path statement needs to be uncommented and the correct path to the CSV data files to be specified. These files are located in the same deployment folder along with the SQL script file.

-- To reinstall AdventureWorks from this script change the SET statement above to the following.
    -- SET @data_path = 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Samples\AdventureWorks OLTP\';
  3. If Examples Setup is clicked in the previous step, you can choose your Database Server and the authentication used to connect. The Wizard should detect all running instances and list them in the input field.

The Installer Wizard expects running SQL Server Browser Service in order to discover local running SQL Server instances.
