Configuring Synchronization

Synchronization in TeamPulse is affected by the settings in three areas: synchronization mappings, TeamPulse project settings, and TFS process template settings.

The synchronization mappings define which TeamPulse entities are mapped to which TFS entities (work item types) as well as which fields within those that are mapped together.  For more information, see the section entitled Editing the Synchronization Mappings.

The TeamPulse project settings are used to define the statuses and the allowed transitions for stories, bugs, issues, risks and tasks.  These settings are important because when synchronizing, each transition will be replayed in TFS.  If the statuses or transitions do not match those of the work item type the TeamPulse entity is mapped to, synchronization errors may occur.  For more information about how to modify the TeamPulse project settings, see the section entitled Editing the TeamPulse Project Settings.

A TFS process template is used to define the fields, rules, and state workflow for work item types in a TFS project.  These settings are important because when synchronizing, each transition will be replayed in TeamPulse.  If the states or transitions do not match those of the TeamPulse entity a work item type is mapped to, synchronization errors may occur.  For more information about how to modify TFS process template settings, see the section entitled Editing the TFS Process Template.
