People Status

The main idea behind People Status screen is to provide you with summary information for the status of all TeamPulse users - what is their activity, how much work is assigned to them and also inform you if some team member is overloaded or has no work assigned.

Overview

People Status screen displays all project members of the projects you have permission to see in xView. For each person the shown information is gathered from all the projects they are working on regarding only to the current iterations of their projects.

On this screen you can watch what is the activity of each user for the last 7 days. You can observe how many items are assigned and not yet started working on, how many items user is currently working on, what is the number of the already completed items and how many of the assigned items were unplanned. In the columns "Items Not Started", "Items in Progress", "Items Done" and "Unplanned Stories + Tasks" information is represented for all projects but you can see it in details separated per project by opening the details for each user.

Columns

The following section explains what each column is used for and how to interpret the information provided within.

Team Member

Team Member column displays the full name of the user. The name itself is actually a hyperlink to xView My Perspective page. If you click it this will open My Perspective and the user will be automatically selected in users dropdown list.

Past 7 Days

This column displays a bar chart showing a team member's daily activity levels. Each bar represents the total number of items (stories, tasks, bugs, issues, and risks) moved into a Done state for a given date within the past 7 days. Hovering the mouse over a bar will show a tool tip that indicates the date and a breakdown of the completed items on that date by item type. All charts are on a scale of 0 to 5, with any amount of completed items larger than 5 simply being represented by a full bar.

If a user has 0 activity for a period of two or more contiguous working (non-weekend) days, and has items either not done or in progress, the chart will highlight the offending bars in red. Weekend days are denoted on the chart by a differently colored background.

Items Not Started

This column represents the number of items assigned to the user that he or she has not started working on. The number is rolled up for all projects with current iteration(s). An item (story, task, bug, risk or issue) is considered to be in Not Started state if its status is in UnexecutedStatuses group of a project as set in the advanced project settings. You can see number of Items Not Started for each project in the details view.

Items Not Started column has yet another function. It alerts you if there are too many items in Not Started state assigned to a user. In that case the column background will be colored in red. A user is considered to be overloaded with items if he has more items assigned to him in a project than the allowed number for that particular project. The limit can be set from users who have Edit Project permission for the corresponding project. Use the details view to see for which project the user is breaking the rule.

Items In Progress

Items In Progress column displays the number of items assigned to the user that he or she is actually working on. The number is rolled up for all projects with current iteration(s). An item is considered to be in In Progress state if its status is in the InProgressStatuses group of a project defined in the advanced project settings. You can see number of Items In Progress for each project in the details view.

Items In Progress column has yet another function. It alerts you if there are too many or no items in In Progress state assigned to a user. A user is considered to be overloaded with items if there are more items assigned to him in a project than the allowed number for that project. In that case the column background will be colored in red. That number is set from users that have Edit Project permission for the corresponding project. Use the details view to see for which project the user is breaking the rule.

People status screen also pays attention to the case when there are no items in Items In Progress state assigned to the user. If the Items Not Started are also zero the number will be colored in orange and if there are Items Not Started the background will be colored in red.

Items Done

Items Done column displays the number of items assigned to the user that he/she has finished working on. The number is rolled up for all projects with current iteration(s). An item is considered to be in Done state if its status is in DoneStatuses group of a project. You can see number of Items Done for each project in the details view.

Unplanned Stories + Tasks

Unplanned Stories + Tasks column displays how many of the stories and their tasks assigned to the user are unplanned. An item is considered as unplanned if it is added X day(s) after the start of the iteration.
