This article is obsolete. The Chart item is now superseded by the more advanced Graph item. The Graph item is most often used for building powerful OLAP/Pivot charts.
Once you have the data source defined you can use the Property Editor or code for selecting which data columns will be used to populate the chart. The key properties for binding to a data source are:
ChartSeries Properties Used in Data Binding:
DataLabelsColumn: This is the name of a data source column that will supply the text that displays next to each data point in the chart.
DataXColumn, DataXColumn2, DataYColumn, DataYColumn2: These are the names of the columns that will contain data used for the series item XValue, XValue2, YValue and YValue2 columns respectively.
X-Axis Properties Used in Data Binding
DataLabelsColumn: This is the name of a data source column that will supply the text that displays next to each X Axis item.
Chart Properties Used in Data Binding
DataSource: You can assign a compatible data source to the DataSource property of the chart.
DataGroupColumn: This is the name of the column in the data source that data will be grouped by. This is similar to defining a "group by" SQL expression in the underlying query.
