Create from Sample

Select the Progress AppBuilder client you are currently using for development.

IDE

When you begin development of a new NativeScript app, you can start from a sample app. Sample apps show you how to implement particular functionality inside your app—for example, the camera. For a complete list of the available samples, visit Telerik Platform Samples.

Prerequisites

  • Verify that your preferred AppBuilder client is running and you are logged in.

Procedure

In-Browser

  1. Click Create app.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Select Samples and templates.
  4. Select NativeScript.
  5. Choose between JavaScript and TypeScript.
  6. (Optional) In the Search text box, start typing search criteria for the sample that you want to use.
  7. Select the sample that you want to use.
  8. Provide a name for the new app.
  9. (Optional) Provide a description for the new app.
  10. Click Create App.

A new app is added in your Telerik Platform account and all files are checked into the integrated AppBuilder version control. AppBuilder opens your new app and lists all app files in the Project Navigator.

Windows

  1. From the Dashboard, click New and select Advanced.
  2. Select Samples.
  3. If the filtering options are collapsed, click Filter to expand them.
  4. Select Native.
  5. Choose between Demos and Advanced APIs.

    Option Description
    Demos Fully-functional samples which show you how to implement an entire business case.
    Advanced APIs Samples which show you how to implement a particular functionality, available via custom or verified NativeScript plugins.
  6. Enter a name for your app and click Clone.

A new app is added in your Telerik Platform account and all files are checked into the integrated AppBuilder version control. AppBuilder opens your new app and lists all app files in the Project Navigator.

Visual Studio

  1. Select AppBuilderGet Sample.
  2. Select Native.
  3. Choose between Demos and Advanced APIs.

    Option Description
    Demos Fully-functional samples which show you how to implement an entire business case.
    Advanced APIs Samples which show you how to implement a particular functionality, available via custom or verified NativeScript plugins.
  4. Select the sample that you want to clone.
  5. (Optional) Rename the project.
  6. Click Get.

Microsoft Visual Studio creates your app and stores all of its files on your disk. Microsoft Visual Studio opens your new app and lists all app files in the Solution Explorer pane.

CLI

  1. To list all samples, run the following command.

    appbuilder sample native
    
  2. To clone a selected sample, run the clone command for the sample as listed by appbuilder sample native.

The command-line interface creates a new folder in the current directory. The folder contains the files for your app. To work with the app with the command-line interface, in the command prompt navigate to the newly created folder.
