Apply Code Formatting

Select the Progress AppBuilder client you are currently using for development.

IDE

In AppBuilder, you can clean up your code against a set of code formatting rules to make it easier to read and maintain. AppBuilder does not apply code formatting rules as you type, you need to apply them manually.

AppBuilder applies your code formatting rules to the currently open file or selected code only.

Prerequisites

  • Verify that your preferred AppBuilder client is running and you are logged in.
  • Verify that you have opened the code for your app in AppBuilder.

Procedure

In-Browser

  • Press Ctrl+Alt+F in the code editor.

Universal

  • Press Ctrl+Alt+F in the code editor.

Windows

  1. Verify that you have configured the code formatting rules. For more information about how to configure code formatting in the classic Windows desktop client, see Configure Code Formatting. For more information about how to configure code formatting in Microsoft Visual Studio, see Text Editor Options Dialog Box.
  2. To apply code formatting to the currently open file, press Ctrl+Alt+F in the code editor or right-click and select Code CommandsFormat Code.
  3. To apply code formatting to a selection, select the code and press Ctrl+Alt+F.

Visual Studio

To perform this operation, apply your preferred Microsoft Visual Studio approach, extension or tool or install and use the Telerik JustCode extension. For more information, see the Telerik JustCode Manual.

CLI

To perform this operation, apply the approach or tool available for your current IDE.
