Configure Fonts and Indentation

Select the Progress AppBuilder client you are currently using for development.

IDE

To make editing and reading your code easier, you can configure fonts and indentation in the code editor.

Prerequisites

  • Verify that your preferred AppBuilder client is running and you are logged in.
  • Verify that you have opened the code for your app in AppBuilder.

Procedure

In-Browser

In the in-browser client, you can configure only indentation. Indentation settings apply to all apps in the current account, across the classic Windows desktop client, the in-browser client and the universal desktop client.

  1. Click the cogwheel icon and select Options.
  2. In the sidebar, click Code Editor.
  3. To use tabs instead of spaces, select the Use tabs instead of spaces check box.
    Existing indentations are not affected.
  4. Set the tab size.
    When you insert a tab in the code editor, the tab will take up the number of spaces set in tab size.
  5. (Optional) To visualize the whitespace characters, select the Render whitespace check box.

Universal

In the universal desktop client, you can configure only indentation. Indentation settings apply to all apps in the current account, across the classic Windows desktop client, the in-browser client and the universal desktop client.

  1. Click the cogwheel icon and select Options.
  2. In the sidebar, click Code Editor.
  3. To use tabs instead of spaces, select the Use tabs instead of spaces check box.
    Existing indentations are not affected.
  4. Set the tab size.
    When you insert a tab in the code editor, the tab will take up the number of spaces set in tab size.
  5. (Optional) To visualize the whitespace characters, select the Render whitespace check box.

Windows

Indentation settings apply to all apps in the current account, across the classic Windows desktop client, the in-browser client and the universal desktop client.

  1. In the title bar, click your user name and select Options.
  2. In the General tab, click Text EditorGeneral.
  3. Configure the indentation behavior.
    Existing indentations are not affected.

    Option Description
    Keep tabs Indent operations insert tab characters that fill the number of spaces set in Tab size.
    Insert spaces Indent operations insert the number of spaces set in Tab size.
  4. Set tab size.
    When you insert a tab in the code editor, the tab will take up the number of spaces set in tab size.
  5. Set font and font size.
  6. Click Ok.

Visual Studio

To perform this operation, apply your preferred Microsoft Visual Studio approach.

CLI

To perform this operation, apply the approach, extension or tools available for your current IDE.
