Simulate Changes in User Location

Select the Progress AppBuilder client you are currently using for development.

IDE

If your app consumes location data, you can simulate changes in the user location in the simulator.

The default location in the simulator is Waterloo, Canada.

Prerequisites

  • Verify that your preferred AppBuilder client is running and you are logged in.
  • Verify that you have opened the code for your app in AppBuilder.
  • Verify that the simulator is running.

Procedure

In-Browser

  1. Click Location to open the Geolocation pane.
  2. (Optional) Set values for position data in the Position pane.
  3. (Optional) Drag the map and click to set a position on the map.
  4. (Optional) Click and drag the compass to change the heading.
  5. (Optional) Set values for speed and heading in the Map pane.

Windows

  1. Click Show/Hide Geo Location to open the Geolocation pane.
  2. (Optional) Set values for position data in the Position pane.
  3. (Optional) Drag the map and click to set a position on the map.
  4. (Optional) Click and drag the compass to change the heading.
  5. (Optional) Set values for speed and heading in the Map pane.

Visual Studio

  1. Click Show/Hide Geo Location to open the Geolocation pane.
  2. (Optional) Set values for position data in the Position pane.
  3. (Optional) Drag the map and click to set a position on the map.
  4. (Optional) Click and drag the compass to change the heading.
  5. (Optional) Set values for speed and heading in the Map pane.

CLI

If you are running the command-line interface on a Windows system, perform the following steps.

  1. Click Show/Hide Geo Location to open the Geolocation pane.
  2. (Optional) Set values for position data in the Position pane.
  3. (Optional) Drag the map and click to set a position on the map.
  4. (Optional) Click and drag the compass to change the heading.
  5. (Optional) Set values for speed and heading in the Map pane.

If you are running the command-line interface on a macOS system, perform the following steps.

  1. In the title bar of the simulator, select ToolsLaunch Instruments.
  2. Click Geo Location to open the Geo Location pane.
  3. (Optional) Set values for Latitude, Longitude, Altitude, Accuracy and Altitude Accuracy.
  4. (Optional) Drag the map and click to set a position on the map.
  5. (Optional) Click and drag the compass to change the heading.
  6. (Optional) Set values for speed and heading in the Map pane.
