If you need to quickly get on board with the hybrid app development capabilities of the Telerik Platform, you can begin your development from the app provided with the Quick Start interactive tutorial.

In the Quick Start tutorial, you will create a Photo Album app which shows a list view gallery of existing photos and lets you take new images with the device camera and upload them to a cloud backend. With this app, you can learn the basics of Kendo UI MVVM and how to work with your AppBuilder client.

Prerequisites

  • Verify that your preferred AppBuilder client is running and you are logged in.

Procedure

In-Browser

  • If you are a new user, the Quick Start tutorial begins automatically when you join the Telerik Platform. After you complete it, you can start a new tutorial or return to your home page and continue exploring the capabilities of the Telerik Platform.
  • If you are an existing user, complete the following steps to begin the Quick Start tutorial and create your first app with it.
    1. Verify that you are on the Telerik Platform home page.
      To return to the home page, click your account name in the breadcrumb in the top left corner.
    2. From your Telerik Platform home page, choose Getting StartedInteractive Tutorials from the top right corner.
    3. In the side bar, choose Hybrid from the drop-down menu.
    4. Click Quick Start.
    5. Click Start Lesson 1 and wait for the Telerik Platform to create your app.

The in-browser client creates your app and opens the code for it. You can continue or restart the tutorial at any time.

Universal

This operation is not available in the universal desktop client.

Windows

This operation is not available in the classic Windows desktop client.

Visual Studio

  1. In the top menu bar, select AppBuilderInteractive Tutorials.
  2. In the Interactive Tutorials side bar, click Quick Start.
  3. Click Start Tutorial and wait for the extension for Visual Studio to create your project.

The creates your project and opens it. If you close the Interactive Tutorials side bar, you can show it again by selecting AppBuilderInteractive Tutorials from the top menu bar. If you need to, from the Interactive Tutorials side bar, you can continue or restart the tutorial at any time.

CLI

This operation is not available in the command-line interface.
