This chapter explains the different mapping strategies supported by Telerik OpenAccess ORM (flat, vertical and horizontal. OpenAccess ORM maps the various properties of your objects (classes and it's fields) onto columns in your database. It also defines keys (constraints and relationships on the appropriate database tables) to reflect the class model.
The mapping of class names to table names and field names to column names are very important. However, every other relevant database setting can be done inside the mapping configuration section. The mapping configuration section is part of the application configuration — App.config (refer to Configuration File for more information about configuration).
||Examples for the settings described in this chapter show the XML metadata, which is stored under the mappings section in the App.config file. It is not recommended to edit the metadata directly; you should use the Properties Dialog inside Visual Studio. The dialog appears by clicking on OpenAccess ORM | Mapping menu. It is also available as a menu entry, when you right click on a code element on your project's Class View. |
