With the Hyperlink field, you can insert a wide range of links in your app. You can link to web pages or to other views in your app, or you can launch the default phone, messaging, email or map apps of your device.
To insert a URL or a special link in your app, complete the following steps:
- On the Manage Views tab, open the view in which you want to insert a link.
The view must be a Master Detail, a Progress Sitefinity-based view, or a Form view.
- Click Add field in the Custom Fields group and select Hyperlink.
- Provide Name and Label.
- Configure the Label position.
From the Link type drop-down list, select the type of hyperlink that you want to insert and configure its properties.
The following table contains information about the information that you need to provide under hyperlink address.
HYPERLINK TYPE DESCRIPTION HYPERLINK ADDRESS EXAMPLE ADDRESS URL Opens a web page in the default browser. The complete path to a web page, including the protocol.
Opens the default mail app and lets you write and send a message to a target email address. The email address to which you want to send an email message.
Call Opens the default phone app and lets you dial a call to a target phone number. The complete phone number that you want to dial, including country and local codes.
Text Opens the default messaging app and lets you write and send a message to a target phone number. The complete phone number to which you want to send a message, including country and local codes.
Maps Opens the default navigation app and shows the specified location. Geopoint coordinates in the following decimal format:
For positive coordinates, you can omit the
View Opens the configured target view in your app. The title of the view to which you want to link. You can select it from a pre-populated drop-down list of all the views in your app.
