Configure Navigation

In the Views service (formerly Screen Builder), you can set up navigation in a few clicks. This article elaborates on the available navigation types and settings.

To configure the navigation in your app, complete the following steps:

  1. From the left-side navigation, select ViewsNavigation.
  2. Choose the type of navigation that you want to use in your app.

    NAVIGATION TYPE DESCRIPTION
    Tab Menu Displays a tab for each view included in the navigation. The position of the tab menu depends on the current operating system. The menu is part of the layout of each view included in the navigation.
    Currently applicable only to Hybrid mobile apps.
    Drawer Displays a button in the header or footer that triggers a drawer menu containing an item for each view included in the navigation. The position of the button depends on the current operating system. The drawer button is part of the layout of each view included in the navigation.
    Currently applicable only to Hybrid mobile apps.
    List Menu Displays a main navigation that lists all views included in the navigation. When the user navigates to a view, a Back and Index buttons are displayed in the view header.
    None Does not implement any navigation. Use this option when you want to implement custom navigation later with AppBuilder.
  3. Configure the available options.
    Based on the selected navigation type, you will be able to configure different navigation settings.
    • In the Application start up section, you can select which view will load when the app starts.
    • In the Transition effect section, you can select what animation to show when switching between views (applicable to some views only and only when working with Hybrid mobile apps for now).
    • In the Tab Menu options section, you can choose how to handle the tab-like navigation for apps which have more than five views.
  4. Click Apply.
