Managing Email Templates in the Portal

You can use the Telerik Platform portal to manage some of your email templates' aspects such as creating and editing.

Creating an Email Template

Follow these steps to create a new email template:

  1. Log in to the Telerik Platform portal.
  2. Click your app.
  3. Navigate to Notifications > Email Notifications > Templates.
  4. Click the Add an email template button.
  5. Fill in the template fields. See the next table for field descriptions.
  6. Click Save.
Field Name Description
Name An arbitrary name that you will use to identify the email template. It is used when sending emails from this template. Must be unique for the application.
Subject The email subject that recipients see.
From email An email address that recipients see as sender.
From name Full name of the sender that recipients see.
Reply to Specify this if you want your users to reply to a different email address than the sender email address.
CC Add a list of CC (carbon copy) recipient addresses. Each of these addresses is visible to the rest of the CC recipients.
BCC Add a list of BCC (blind carbon copy) recipient addresses. Messages sent to BCC recipients appear as if sent only to a single recipient.
Message A message body editor that offers two editing modes: Design for rich-text editing and HTML for directly editing the underlying HTML code.
Send also a plain-text version Turn this option on if you want to include a plain-text version of the message body suitable for email clients that do not support HTML messages.

Editing an Email Template

Depending on whether you are editing a system or a custom template, you've got two options:

System Templates

The predefined email templates all relate to the User Management service. That is why they are located under Users in the portal.

To edit a system email template:

  1. Log in to the Telerik Platform portal.
  2. Click your app.
  3. Navigate to Users > Automated Emails.
  4. Select a table entry and click Edit in the right-hand pane.
  5. Make your changes and then click Save.

Custom Templates

To edit a custom email template:

  1. Log in to the Telerik Platform portal.
  2. Click your app.
  3. Navigate to Notifications > Email Notifications > Templates.
  4. Select a table entry and click Edit in the right-hand pane.
  5. Make your changes. Refer to the table in Creating an Email Template for field descriptions.
  6. Click Save.

Deleting an Email Template

You can delete email templates created by you at any time but you cannot delete system templates. Note that any code (such as Cloud Functions) that uses the deleted email template will stop working.

To delete a custom email template:

  1. Log in to the Telerik Platform portal.
  2. Click your app.
  3. Navigate to Notifications > Email Notifications > Templates.
  4. Select a table entry and click Delete.
  5. Confirm the deletion.
