AppManager Mobile App

This article explains in detail all the configuration options of the AppManager mobile app. Currently, these consist of enabling the AppManager mobile apps for iOS and Windows Phone and their features. The AppManager mobile app for Android is available for download from the Google Play store.

To get to the AppManager mobile app settings, click Settings in the side navigation under App Distribution. There, you can find the corresponding settings pages.

iOS Mobile App

By default the AppManager mobile app for iOS is disabled and cannot be downloaded by your account members. Due to iOS platform specifics, the only way to enable the AppManager mobile app for iOS for your account, is to re-sign it with your certificate and provisioning profile.

In the iOS settings page you can find the following sections:

Mobile App Download URL

If you had previously re-signed the AppManager mobile app and just want to copy the download link for it, you can find it in this section. A label indicates the last successful re-signing of the app. Use the Resend download URL button to send an email with the download URL for the iOS mobile app to all users.

iOS Certificate and Provisioning Profile Upload Form

This section lets you re-sign the AppManager mobile app for iOS and distribute it to your account members. It has the following inputs:

  • Provisioning profile - Upload your provisioning profile for the AppManager mobile app. You can find detailed instructions in the Obtaining a Provisioning Profile article.

It is best to create a separate provisioning profile for the AppManager mobile app. You cannot use the same provisioning profile for your own app and the AppManager mobile app, unless the profile has a wildcard AppId.

  • Certificate - Provide here the iOS certificate used to create the selected provisioning profile. It must be exported to a .p12 file.

  • Certificate password - Type in the iOS certificate password that you specified on export.
  • Distribute by Email - Check this option if you want all account members to receive an email containing a download link for the AppManager mobile app for iOS. You can resend this email later.

To complete the re-signing process, click Re-sign AppManager.

When the AppManager mobile app is re-signed, AppManager displays a QR code and a URL address for download.

Your Telerik Platform credentials will not work with the mobile app. You will have to invite yourself in AppManager and complete a registration as an account member.

Right now, the AppManager mobile app for iOS does not have an automatic update feature. You will have to re-sign the AppManager mobile app and distribute it every time there is a new app update. A yellow warning notification will appear on top of this form if you need to re-sign and re-distribute the AppManager mobile app for iOS again.

iOS Push Notifications

This section lets you provide an iOS Push Notifications Certificate to AppManager, so that AppManager can send push notifications to your account members. This step is optional and the AppManager mobile app can work without push notifications. If you want to enable push notifications, you will have to provide:

  • Push Notifications Certificate - An exported .p12 iOS Push Notifications Certificate. There are detailed instructions about how to obtain an iOS Push Notifications Certificate in the video Telerik Tips - iOS Push Notifications.
  • Push Certificate password - The password you specified when you exported the certificate to a .p12 file.

The Push Notification Certificate and the Provisioning Profile from the re-signing form must be generated for the same iOS App Id. Otherwise, the AppManager mobile app will not be able to receive any push notifications.
