AppBuilder 2.5.2 Release Notes

Product version: AppBuilder 2.5.2

Released: 2014, October 9

AppBuilder 2.5.2 is a maintenance release. For a list of the new features and updates introduced in the earlier major release, AppBuilder 2.5, see AppBuilder 2.5 Release Notes.

This release resolves the following issue in AppBuilder.

You cannot publish apps to the Apple App Store. AppBuilder shows the following error: Cannot verify binary upload. Visit https://itunesconnect.apple.com/ to verify that your application is in the Upload Received or Waiting for Review state.

In this release of AppBuilder, you need to be aware of the following issue.

If you have published an app in the Google Play store, you might receive the following email from Google.

This is a notification that your <App ID>, is built on a version of Apache Cordova
that contains security vulnerabilities. This includes a high severity cross-application
scripting (XAS) vulnerability. Under certain circumstances, vulnerable apps could be
remotely exploited to steal sensitive information, such as user login credentials.

You should upgrade to Apache Cordova 3.5.1 or higher as soon as possible.
For more information about the vulnerabilities and for guidance on upgrading
Apache Cordova, please see http://cordova.apache.org/announcements/2014/08/04/android-351.html.

Please note, applications with vulnerabilities that expose users to risk of compromise
may be considered “dangerous products” and subject to removal from Google Play.

Regards,
Google Play Team

Workaround: AppBuilder 2.5 introduced support for Apache Cordova 3.5.1 for Android. To address the notification from Google, you need to re-build your app to target Apache Cordova 3.5.1.

If your app does not target Apache Cordova 3.5.0, complete the following steps.

  1. In the Properties -> General tab, change the target Cordova version to 3.5.0 (Android 3.5.1) and save your changes.
  2. Run the Publish wizard to re-build the APK.
  3. Re-submit the APK to Google Play.

If your app already targets Apache Cordova 3.5.0, complete the following steps.

  1. In the Properties -> General tab, change the target Cordova version to 3.2.0 or earlier and save your changes.
  2. Change the target Cordova version to 3.5.0 (Android 3.5.1) and save your changes.
  3. Run the Publish wizard to re-build the APK.
  4. Re-submit the APK to Google Play.

For more information about the workaround, see Telerik AppBuilder Hotfix for Cordova 3.5 on Android.
