Filter by IDE
Select the Progress AppBuilder client you are currently using for development.

IDE

You can search for content in the currently open document.

Prerequisites

  • Verify that your preferred AppBuilder client is running and you are logged in.
  • Verify that you have opened the code for your app in AppBuilder.

Procedure

In-Browser

  1. From the Project Navigator, open the file that you want to search.
  2. Press Ctrl+F (on Windows systems) or Cmd+F (on macOS systems).
    The Find dialog launches in pinned mode. You can run searches with separate search criteria for each open file.
  3. In the Find dialog, configure your search options.

    Option Description
    Aa Specifies that the search criteria should respect the character casing.
    Match whole words Specifies that the search criteria should only match whole words.
    .* Specifies that the search criteria is a regular expression.
  4. Type your search criteria and press Enter.
    As you type, AppBuilder highlights the search results in the file.
  5. (Optional) To navigate between search results, click Previous match or Next match.
  6. (Optional) To search within selected text, click Find in selection.
  7. (Optional) Close the Find dialog.

Universal

  1. From the Project Navigator, open the file that you want to search.
  2. Press Ctrl+F (on Windows systems) or Cmd+F (on macOS systems).
    The Find dialog launches in pinned mode. You can run searches with separate search criteria for each open file.
  3. In the Find dialog, configure your search options.

    Option Description

  1. From the Project Navigator, open the file that you want to search.

  3. In the Find dialog, click the cogwheel icon to open the configuration pop-up menu and configure your search options.

    Option Description
    Match case Specifies that the search criteria should respect the character casing.
    Match whole word Specifies that the search criteria should match only entire words.
    Use regular expressions Specifies that the search criteria is a regular expression.
  4. Type your search criteria and press Enter.
    As you type your search criteria, AppBuilder highlights the search results in the file.
  5. (Optional) To navigate between search results, click or .
  6. (Optional) Close the Find dialog.

Visual Studio

In the extension for Visual Studio, you can find and replace text with the default Find and Replace operations available in Microsoft Visual Studio. For more information, see Finding and Replacing Text.

CLI

To perform this operation, apply the approach or tool available for your current IDE.
