IDE

With Emmet enabled in the code editor in the in-browser client, the classic Windows desktop client or the universal desktop client, you can increase your coding productivity.

By default, in the in-browser client and the universal desktop client, Emmet abbreviations, actions and filters are disabled and you need to enable them. You cannot change the expand hotkey.

By default, in the classic Windows desktop client, Emmet abbreviations, actions and filters are enabled and you cannot disable them. You can change the expand hotkey.

Procedure

In-Browser

In the in-browser client, you can only enable or disable Emmet in the code editor.

  1. Log in the Telerik Platform and open the code for your app.
  2. Inspect the log in the Output pane.
    • If Emmet is enabled, the following message is present in the log: Emmet plug-in is on.
    • If Emmet is disabled, the following message is present in the log: Emmet plug-in is off.
  3. To change the current behavior, open a file in the code editor and press Ctrl+E (on Windows systems) or Cmd+E (on macOS systems).

The in-browser client adds the Emmet configuration change to the log and indicates the currently active behavior. The configuration is global for the browser and persists between browser sessions.

Universal

In the universal desktop client, you can only enable or disable Emmet in the code editor.

  1. Run the universal desktop client, log in the Telerik Platform and open the code for your app.
  2. Inspect the log in the Output pane.
    • If Emmet is enabled, the following message is present in the log: Emmet plug-in is on.
    • If Emmet is disabled, the following message is present in the log: Emmet plug-in is off.
  3. To change the current behavior, open a file in the code editor and press Ctrl+E (on Windows systems) or Cmd+E (on macOS systems).

The universal desktop client adds the Emmet configuration change to the log and indicates the currently active behavior. The configuration persists between sessions.

Windows

In the classic Windows desktop client, you can only enable or disable expand on Tab.

  1. Run the classic Windows desktop client, log in the Telerik Platform and open the code for your app.
  2. In the title bar, click your user name and select Options.
  3. Click General.
  4. Select Text EditorCode Snippets.
  5. Select or deselect the Expand snippets on Tab check box to toggle the corresponding behavior.

When Expand on Tab is disabled, you can use Ctrl+E to expand snippets and Emmet abbreviations.

Visual Studio

To use Emmet abbreviations, actions and filters in this version of the extension for Visual Studio, you can install an Emmet-enabled extension from the Microsoft Visual Studio Gallery.

CLI

To use Emmet abbreviations, actions and filters, apply the approach or tool available for your current IDE.
