Add Files from Archive

IDE

To add multiple files and folders at once, you can import an archive. AppBuilder supports importing files from ZIP, RAR and 7Z archives.

Uploading multiple files from archive might be significantly faster compared to uploading multiple files from your local file system. AppBuilder uploads and unpacks your archive in the cloud and adds the contents of the package to your app.

Prerequisites

  • Verify that your preferred AppBuilder client is running and you are logged in.
  • Verify that you have opened the code for your app in AppBuilder.
  • Verify that the archive is a ZIP, RAR or 7Z archive.
  • Verify that all files and folders in the archive meet the AppBuilder requirements for file and folder names.

Procedure

In-Browser

  1. In the Project Navigator, right-click the location where you want to add the files.
  2. From the pop-up menu, select AddFrom Archive.
  3. In the file browser of your system, browse and locate the archive that you want to import in AppBuilder.
  4. Drag the selection and drop it in the drop files here to upload text box.
  5. Click Upload.
  6. Confirm that you want to continue.
  7. If the archive was created on a macOS system, make sure to delete any system macOS files and folders such as __MACOSX and .DS_Store from the Project Navigator.

This version of the extension for Visual Studio does not let you add files from archive. You need to unpack the archive first. For more information how to add existing files from your local file system, see Add an existing file in the extension for Visual Studio.

CLI

To perform this operation, unpack the archive on your local file system and add its files manually to your app directory.

Next Steps

Open your files for editing and continue writing and debugging your code.
