Add a File from the Local File System

Select the Progress AppBuilder client you are currently using for development.

IDE

You can add one or more existing files from your local file system to your app.

Prerequisites

  • Verify that your preferred AppBuilder client is running and you are logged in.
  • Verify that you have opened the code for your app in AppBuilder.
  • Verify that the file meets the AppBuilder requirements for file and folder names.

Procedure

In-Browser

  1. In the Project Navigator, right-click the location where you want to add the existing files.
  2. From the pop-up menu, select AddExisting Files.
  3. In the file browser of your system, browse, locate, and select the files that you want to add.
  4. Drag the selection and drop it in the drop files here to upload text box.
  5. Click Upload.
  6. If prompted, decide if you want to overwrite any existing files and folders.

Universal

  1. In the Project Navigator, right-click the location where you want to add the existing files.
  2. From the pop-up menu, select AddExisting Files.
  3. In the file browser of your system, browse and locate the files that you want to add.
  4. Drag the selection and drop it in the drop files here to upload text box.
  5. Click Upload.
  6. If prompted, decide if you want to overwrite any existing files and folders.

Windows

  • Add one or more existing files from the menu.
    1. In the Project Navigator, right-click the location where you want to add the existing files.
    2. From the pop-up menu, select AddExisting Files.
    3. Browse and locate the files that you want to add, select them and click Open.
    4. If prompted, decide if you want to overwrite any existing files and folders.
    5. (Optional) In the Synchronizing with cloud pop-up window, click for more information about the upload operation.
  • Add one or more existing files by drag-and-drop.
    1. In Windows Explorer, browse and locate the files that you want to add.
    2. Select the files, drag the selection to the Project Navigator and drop it on a location of your choice.
    3. If prompted, decide if you want to overwrite any existing files and folders.
    4. (Optional) In the Synchronizing with cloud pop-up window, click for more information about the upload operation.

Visual Studio

  • Add one or more existing files from the menu.
    1. In the Solution Explorer, right-click the location where you want to add the existing files.
    2. From the pop-up menu, select AddExisting Item.
    3. Browse and locate the files that you want to add, select them and click Add.
    4. If prompted, decide if you want to overwrite any existing files and folders.
  • Add one or more existing files by drag-and-drop.

    1. In Windows Explorer, browse and locate the files that you want to add.
    2. Select the files, drag the selection to the Solution Explorer and drop it on a location of your choice.
      To add the files in the root, drop the selection on the project node.
    3. If prompted, decide if you want to overwrite any existing files and folders.

    If you cannot drag and drop files and folders in the Solution Explorer, copy the items from the file explorer and paste them on the target node in the Solution Explorer.

CLI

To perform this operation, add your files manually to your app directory.
