With Business Logic, you can execute JavaScript code before and after performing CRUD operations on content types in your app. You can use this feature to check for duplicate items before creating a new item in a content type, to validate input, to ask for confirmation before deleting an item, to log events for your app and so on.

The business logic (cloud code) file for every content type consists of a template in which you can insert your custom JavaScript code.

Data, Users, Notifications and Business Logic keeps a business logic log for your app. With this log, you can keep track of the CRUD operations performed on the content types in your app and any Data, Users, Notifications and Business Logic events triggered for these operations. If you have modified the business logic (cloud code) for the content types by adding console.log for one or more events, the console output is also shown in the business logic log.

For more information about business logic (cloud code), see the Introduction to Business Logic section in the Data, Users, Notifications and Business Logic documentation.

In this version of the extension for Visual Studio and the command-line interface, you cannot work with business logic (cloud code) from the extension for Visual Studio and the command-line interface. You need to edit your business logic (cloud code) and view your business logic (cloud code) log in the browser.
