Enable or Disable LiveSync with the Menu Button for Android Devices

Select the Progress AppBuilder client you are currently using for development.

IDE

By default, to refresh your changes on a remote Android device, you can tap and hold with three fingers on the device screen or press the Menu button. You can disable LiveSyncing with the Menu button.

Prerequisites

  • Verify that your preferred AppBuilder client is running and you are logged in.
  • Verify that you have opened the code for your app in AppBuilder.

Procedure

In-Browser

  1. In the Project Navigator, right-click the second node from the top and select Edit ConfigurationAndroid Config.xml.
  2. To enable LiveSync with the Menu button, verify that the following line is present.
    By default, this preference is set to false and is not listed in config.xml.

    <preference name="LiveSync.useMenuButton" value="true" />
    
  3. To disable LiveSync with the Menu button, if enabled, remove the following line.

    <preference name="LiveSync.useMenuButton" value="false" />
    
  4. Press Ctrl+S to save your changes.

You need to re-build and re-deploy your app for the change to take effect.

Windows

  1. In the Project Navigator, right-click the second node from the top and select Edit ConfigurationAndroid Config.xml.
  2. To enable LiveSync with the Menu button, verify that the following line is present.

  1. In the Solution Explorer, right-click your app and select Edit ConfigurationAndroid Config.xml.
  2. To enable LiveSync with the Menu button, verify that the following line is present.
    By default, this preference is set to false and is not listed in config.xml.

    <preference name="LiveSync.useMenuButton" value="true" />
    
  3. To disable LiveSync with the Menu button, if enabled, remove the following line.

    <preference name="LiveSync.useMenuButton" value="false" />
    
  4. Press Ctrl+S to save your changes.

You need to re-build and re-deploy your app for the change to take effect.

CLI

  1. In the command prompt, navigate to the directory that contains your app.
  2. Run the following command.

    appbuilder edit-configuration android-config
    

    The config.xml file for Android opens in the default text editor for your system.

  3. To enable LiveSync with the Menu button, verify that the following line is present.
    By default, this preference is set to false and is not listed in config.xml.

    <preference name="LiveSync.useMenuButton" value="true" />
    
  4. To disable LiveSync with the Menu button, if enabled, remove the following line.

    <preference name="LiveSync.useMenuButton" value="false" />
    
  5. Press Ctrl+S to save your changes.

You need to re-build and re-deploy your app for the change to take effect.
