The Telerik's Cloud components for Windows Phone enable you to extend your Windows Phone applications with common Cloud related scenarios without having to deal with writing connection code by yourself.
We have controls that cover some common scenarions like User Authentication, User Registration, Picture Upload, Picture Browsing, CRUD operations on data, In-App Notifications, etc.
Apart from that, there is a Cloud Synchronization mechanism that allows storing of the data in a local storage as well which can be used when the device is offline and the data can not be immediately synched with the cloud.
These both subjects are explained with more details in their own topics below.
Installing the Telerik Cloud Controls for Windows Phone
The Telerik Cloud Controls for Windows Phone are currently in Beta version. To obtain these components you need to go to the Available Downloads for Windows Phone page and choose
All Product Files option for Telerik UI for Windows Phone 8 as shown on the image below:
After the page with all Product Files is opened, find the Cloud Controls section at the bottom and choose Automatic Installation.
You will need to uninstall your existing Windows Phone 8 installation and install the Cloud Controls one. It contains the standard Telerik UI for Windows Phone plus the Telerik Cloud Controls for Windows Phone. The installation also adds two new project templates in your Visual Studio 2012 installation which launch a wizard that easily connects you to the
Telerik Everlive Cloud services.
For more information see the Getting Started section.
How is the Cloud access implemented?
The Telerik Cloud Controls for Windows Phone are designed to support different Cloud Service providers. Currently, the Telerik Everlive Cloud Services
are officially supported and
come as default provider in the installation package.
The Telerik Everlive Cloud Services portal gives you access to your Everlive applications (projects). Once you log in you can create, edit and delete applications. In an Everlive Application you can define
different Content Types which represent object stores. By default, you have content types for Users, Files and Roles. Each content type can have different properties according to your requirements. You can also adjust
the access permitions for a content type so that only logged users from your Users store can access it or everyone.
